Program:
Latest Advancements in Froth Flotation
The capability to enhance flotation performance is a continuous pursuit in the mineral processing industry. Incremental improvements are being pursued by incorporating design changes into established flotation technologies. The industry, however, is demanding advanced technologies to perform better in terms of improved resource utilization while at the same time ensuring that power and water usage is reduced. To meet these demands, it is necessary to make a step change in the performance capability of flotation equipment. To meet these demands it has become necessary to either improve existing flotation technologies or develop new ones. FLS has taken the approach to enhance its WEMCO flotation cell and introduce two new flotation technologies.
The introduction of the WEMCO II builds on the existing success of the WEMCO flotation cell by improving on recovery and operability of the technology. A step change in flotation has been developed in the form of the REFLUX™ Flotation Cell, which is a staged, frothless flotation machine which is enhancing the kinetics of flotation and shifting the grade recovery curve. The coarseAIR™ coarse particle flotation machine is another new development that allows operators to float coarser particles than that which has traditionally been possible, allowing for coarser grinding in milling circuits and consequently allowing for optimized energy usage and improved water recovery.
